Solution against drought using photovoltaic system

Photovoltaic system at the Bruška location serves to power a water pump located in a cave adjacent to the water source on-site. This system has addressed the issue of the water source drying up during the summer months, which posed a significant problem for the local residents of the surrounding villages near Bruška. Therefore, we embarked on the implementation of the best solution to ensure that this does not happen again in the summer of 2023.

A professional team, including several professional divers and speleologists, worked on this crucial project. They explored the water source and possibilities for installing the pump, without which this project would not have been feasible. After receiving the divers’ report, the pump system was designed and installed, incorporating panels to power the pump. The system consists of photovoltaic panels with a total capacity of 1200 W, an electrical equipment cabinet, a switch for turning the pump on and off, and the water pump itself. The photovoltaic panels and the cabinet are connected by an underground cable laid in a PEHD pipe to protect it from external influences.

The system is designed to be used during sunny weather, with batteries serving to stabilize the voltage during short periods of cloud cover that block direct sunlight. From the electrical equipment cabinet to the switch for activation and from the activation switch to the entrance of the cave, another PEHD pipe has been laid, housing the cable that powers the pump.

The project was completed at the end of July, and the operation and use of the pump were presented to the president of the local council, Ante Zrilić, and the family living in the immediate vicinity of the water source.
