During the past week, the popular Science Festival was celebrated across Croatia, with this year’s central theme being energy. Numerous lectures and workshops on this extraordinary force that powers the entire world were held at various locations throughout the country, including schools, universities and museums.
We were pleased to take part in this science‑dedicated week as well, by hosting two secondary schools at the locations of our solar and wind power plants. On Wednesday, April 22, a group from the First Gymnasium of Split visited our solar power plant located on Pometeno Brdo above the Municipality of Klis. On Friday, April 24, the Secondary Vocational School from Gospić visited the Gradić solar power plant site as well as the Zadar 4 wind power plant in Benkovac.

Professor Tina Franić, who led the group of students from Split, expressed her enthusiasm for the beautiful location of the solar power plant as well as for the wealth of new, interesting and useful information that both students and teachers received during the visit and the guided tour conducted by our colleague and Maintenance Manager, Mirko Kovačević, M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
Mr. Kovačević also led an educational visit for the students from Gospić, who toured our power plants in Benkovac. During the visit, the students had the opportunity to learn about the operation of the power plants and to gain deeper insight into the importance of renewable energy sources within the energy mix.

Field trips are always one of the most popular ways of learning for young people, and initiatives like these further highlight the importance of investing in knowledge and education in the field of renewable energy sources, which form the foundation of a sustainable energy future.
ENCRO would like to thank the schools and students for visiting our power plants and looks forward to hosting similar initiatives in the future as well!
