Renewable Energy and Education: Visit to the Students of Primary Schools Trilj and Tijarica

The Primary School in Trilj and “Stjepan Radić” Primary School in Tijarica are an important part of the local community in which we operate. These are schools with which we continuously partner with and build a sustainable future by carrying out educational activities on renewable energy sources and projects that contribute to the acceptance and better understanding of green technologies.

As part of our donation programme, we gifted both schools rooftop solar power plants. Thanks to this valuable technology, which also serves as an educational tool, the schools are joining us in promoting awareness of the importance of renewable energy sources.

Last week, during our visit to these two schools, we held a presentation on our company’s activities, renewable energy sources, and important representatives of the flora and fauna that inhabit the areas surrounding our solar and wind power plants.

Primary School Trilj, 7th grade

Our colleague Ana Ptiček, an expert in nature and environmental protection, held presentations for the seventh-grade students of Trilj Primary School. At the beginning of the presentation, data from the school’s own rooftop solar power plant were presented, including energy production, consumption, and savings.

A strong emphasis was placed on CO2 savings and the impact of their solar power plant on the environment. By using a renewable energy source — solar energy — through the photovoltaic installation on its roof, Trilj Primary School has reduced its carbon footprint by more than 4 tonnes of CO2, which would have been generated if energy produced from coal had been used instead.

The students were particularly interested in the animal world presented by our colleague Ana, who showed them photographs of animals inhabiting the areas around our solar power plants.

After the presentation, we spent some time talking with the students, answering their questions and, most importantly, explaining the rooftop solar power system in greater detail. The students are already actively considering such systems as valuable investments for their future homes.

In addition to the presentation for the older students of Trilj Primary School, we also prepared and distributed interactive and educational colouring books on renewable energy sources for the younger children — students from first to fourth grade at both the main and regional primary schools — adapted to their age group.

The children received the gifts with great enthusiasm, and we hope these materials will help them in learning about electrical energy or geometric shapes, topics they are currently encountering at this stage of their education.

We also distributed these educational materials to the students of “Stjepan Radić” Primary School in Tijarica, whom we visited on the occasion of the commissioning of their rooftop solar power plant. This small school, with only 12 students, always impresses us with its dedicated work, discipline, and the responsibility shown by its students. It is truly an excellent example of how even a small school community can achieve great success.

As a company, we are proud to support and follow the education of younger generations in the local communities where we operate, and we would like to thank our schools for their openness and for the wonderful cooperation we continue to share.
