Public Open University in Benkovac
In a new auditorium at the Public Open University in Benkovac, renowned table tennis champion Sandra Paović gave an inspiring motivational speech to seventh and eighth-grade students from the Benkovac Elementary School. The idea of having Sandra address the graduating classes had been in the works for some time, driven by the goal of encouraging young generations to realize that perseverance and hard work can lead to extraordinary achievements, even when success seems impossible.
Speaking before an audience of 150 students, Sandra recounted the beginnings of her career, sharing how she first took up table tennis at the age of five in her hometown of Vukovar. She also spoke about experiencing the horrors of war in Borovo Naselje and how she overcame life’s many challenges, including a tragic accident that profoundly marked her life. Through her remarkable mental strength and status as a medical marvel, Sandra achieved the seemingly impossible, proving that resilience can turn adversity into triumph.
Motivation to always give her best, the daily fight never to give up, and an unwavering love for what she does and cherishes—these have always been Sandra Paović’s greatest strengths. Whether we are children, athletes, or professionals facing daily challenges, life is filled with victories and defeats. Sandra’s message is clear: it’s up to us to rise after every fall and grow even stronger. Through her story, Sandra encourages everyone to bring out their best and discover the winner within themselves.
Sandra’s journey, both in sports and in life, stands as a testament to what it means to be a true fighter, showing how to turn adversity into moments of happiness. To further inspire others, 30 copies of Sandra’s book, Volim život (I Love Life), were donated to the City Library and the school library. The book, which has already inspired countless children, parents, and adults, is expected to reach an even wider audience among the youth of Benkovac.
Sandra’s motivational tour will continue in schools across Croatia, serving as an encouragement and a shining example of resilience and a passion for life. This initiative is proudly supported by ENCRO, a sponsor of Sandra’s visits to elementary and high schools. Together, they bring to life a project that amplifies the powerful message of this remarkable young woman, whose strength and determination are truly admirable.
