Benkovac warmly welcomed talented members of the theatre group from Tomislavgrad this weekend. Over 30 primary school students – participants of the Center of Excellence, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, which operates within the Fra Mijo Čuić Primary School in Bukovica, delighted the audience with their commendable and professionally recognized performance.
The play “Krunidba” (The Coronation), written and directed by Ivana Ćurić in collaboration with her colleagues from the Primary School, portrays the coronation of Croatia’s first king, Tomislav. It was created as part of the commemoration of the 1100th anniversary of the Croatian Kingdom.

Matej Pešut, Director of the Public Open University in Benkovac commented: “We can proudly say that the performance of Krunidba in Benkovac was a true cultural experience. The young actors from the theatre group delivered an outstanding show—with incredible energy, seriousness, and talent that goes beyond their years. The audience rewarded their performance with enthusiastic applause, and the atmosphere was filled with pride and emotion.”
In front of an audience that filled the cultural center of Benkovac, a powerful and moving story was performed—interwoven with elements of distinctive local humor and childlike innocence. The play conveys a message of national identity, unity, and the spiritual heritage of the Croatian people.

Children from the town named after King Tomislav authentically portrayed their faith and Christian values, which have always been closely tied to Croatian history. At the end of the play, little members from the audience had the opportunity to join the king on the stage, take photos with him, and get a close-up look at the weapon props and lavish costumes created in the creative workshop of the Center of Excellence.”

Just as our ancestors laid the foundations of the Croatian state more than a millennium ago, today we are laying the foundations of a sustainable future through renewable energy sources. Tomislavgrad, same as Benkovac, can proudly highlight its contributions to the development of renewable energy, harnessing the natural resources for which both towns are widely known—wind and sun.
“Events like this show that Benkovac truly lives the culture. We sincerely thank the CIZUS theatre group for their excellent collaboration and dedication, as well as the company Kunovac d.o.o., which financed the play and thus made it possible for all our residents to enjoy.” – Matej Pešut, Director of the Public Open University

This project is yet another testament to our strong collaboration with the local community, with whom we proudly promote the preservation of Croatian cultural and educational heritage, while also providing additional content for children and young people living near our wind farms.
